is what has been going on in school!!

Get Cycling's aim is simple: to promote cycling in all its varieties, for leisure; transport; health; happiness and the environment.  We were lucky enough to receive funding via the Tewkesbury Healthy Town scheme to book one of the fantastic Get Cycling Activity Days which took place on Monday 26th April 2010.

The day started with a lively presentation featuring a dramatic educational treatment of all these aspects of cycling, and then it was out onto the MUGA for full safety instruction prior to saddling up:

And what a selection of bicycles there were to try out!  From tandems to recumbent cycles, trikes and bouncing bikes, scooters and trailer bikes, and the unbelievably spectacular "conference" bike, that's PURPLE and seats SEVEN!!!!!!!!!

Above, Stuart and David taking it easy, whilst below, Lisa is hard at work, but ends up with some help!

From primary through to seniors, AKS staff and parents - all who wanted to had a go:

WHAT WAS THAT AGAIN???

Phew!  Tiger is in charge of steering......but we are all going to have to pedal, and hang on - which way will we go??

EVERY which way - and at high speed!!

Stuart summed his ride up:  "It was fun and scary at the same time - a bit like the waltzer at the fairground!"

And a final word from Dean, who spoke for many of our pupils who had voiced fears and lacked confidence at the beginning of the event:

"Cycling is AWESOME!!!"

Once more, we have many more photos than can be shown here, so please visit our Photo Gallery.
