The Duke of Edinburgh
We have been running a group in school for about 15 years. This is open to years 10 and 11 children. At present we have 2 pupils working on their bronze award. Each pupil has to complete four sections:
• Volunteering - helping someone, your community or the environment
• Physical - becoming fitter through sport, dance or fitness activities
• Skills - developing existing talents or trying something new
• Expedition - planning, training for and completing an adventurous journey
We work with county on the expedition training (this is done at the wilderness centre in the Forest of Dean) over a week where they complete training and expedition Journey in the same week with presentation and issuing of certificates at the end of it.
We have had pupils complete their bronze and silver awards, we have also had ex pupils go on to do
their gold awards.
