Food
Pupils learn to cook from a very early age, KS1, developing their skills for food preparation of food; learning about health, safety and hygiene in every weekly lesson (at present 1 ½ hours).
We have excellent links with Waitrose Food Studio in Cheltenham and I do try to arrange a visit for each class KS 3 & 4 each term – where once again it’s a hands on experience.

Lessons are focussed on life skills – a vital part to our children’s education –using equipment; preparing healthy nutritious meals; washing up etc. Sharing food, team work, to name but a few. Pupils visit the Tewkesbury Food and Drink Festival and the Good Food Show in the NEC; and within the school, pupils are involved with the preparation of food for Governors teas, meetings etc. You are more than welcome to come in and have a look around, or join lessons.
Eventually when pupils enter into KS4 they then follow an accredited course, which could be GCSE Food and Nutrition (WJEC), Entry Level Food and Nutrition (WJEC), ASDAN Life Skills. Examination results have always been excellent and many pupils move onto a career in catering and hospitality.
A healthy meal!
