Links with Hartpury College
All Year 10 and 11 pupils have an opportunity to visit Hartpury College. These sessions give the opportunity for pupils to experience and carry out a whole range of activities around the Home Farm campus.
The activities undertaken may include:
Clearing, preparing digging vegetable plots
- Sowing seeds and growing crops
- Maintaining ornamental gardens
- Weighing animals and recording growth
- Maintenance of farmyard machinery and tractors
- Animal care
- Handling feeding and examining animals to check for signs of good or poor health
- Clearing out, bedding and providing clean water for livestock

The pupils really enjoy this aspect of the Key Stage 4 curriculum and tackle all tasks and activities with enthusiasm! The sessions at Hartpury provide a useful link between school, work experience and college. The achievement of pupils at Hartpury is recognised by the AQA examination board through the Unit Award scheme.
