Pupils really enjoy having opportunities to use Information Communication Technology (ICT) across the curriculum and the school has a specific ICT suite. ICT is used to help prepare the pupils to participate in a world in which work and other activities are being increasingly transformed by access to varied and developing technology. We are very aware that increased capability in the use of ICT promotes initiative and independent learning, with pupils being able to make informed judgements about when and where to use ICT to best effect, and to consider it’s implications for home and work both now and in the future.
Therefore we teach pupils to use ICT tools to find, explore, analyse, exchange and present information responsibly, creatively and with discrimination. In addition they learn how to use ICT and the world-wide-web to access ideas and experiences from a wider range of people, communities and cultures.
A wide range of ICT courses are offered to pupils at Key Stage 4 and all gain externally recognised accreditations. These include Entry Level Certificates, Functional Skills and Unit Awards in different areas such as word processing and spreadsheets. We are currently linked with Tewkesbury School ICT department who are supporting us with our curriculum and teaching.
The School is networked and has broadband internet in all areas.
The school currently has interactive whiteboards in most classrooms. These are fantastic teaching and learning tools and the school is looking to ensure all classrooms have them during the next two years. It is planned that some of the monies raised for the school will be used to support this.
