As you know, our school has been awarded Specialist Status for its work in the area of Communication and Interaction. The current focus in maths is developing skills in Using and Applying Mathematics. As part of that I have produced a booklet with a few ideas about ‘Helping your child with Maths’.
My aim is to raise awareness that maths is not just something to be done in school, but that it is in many areas of our everyday lives. Every day we use numbers. If you think about it, you are probably already doing a lot of maths at home without realizing it. By involving your child, you will help them to learn. Remember, maths at home is meant to be fun. You should both enjoy it.
