Modern Foreign Languages: French

French is taught from Key Stage 2 up to Key Stage 4, with the pupils having one lesson a week. They learn in a practical manner; learning useful words and phrases in a variety of situations, including shopping for food and clothes, personal information, towns, greeting, colours etc.

The focus is on communication and understanding and the lessons are supported through lots of visual stimuli; flashcards, playing games and the use of the interactive whiteboard. Our intention is that as a result this will lead to a greater understanding of other cultures.

In Key Stage 4, pupils work towards AQA Entry Level Certificate or Unit Award Qualifications. The pupils complete 4 units out of 12 to complete the Entry Level Certificate.
