OFSTED Inspection of
Wednesday 7th November 2007
November 26th 2007
The school was inspected on Wednesday 7th November 2007 and I am absolutely delighted to be able to share with you the Ofsted report resulting from that inspection.
Staff and governors are thrilled that the inspection confirmed that Alderman Knight is a very good school with many outstanding features and we are very grateful to all the parents who provided information to the inspectors to help them make their judgements.
We are very proud of the report and feel that it highlights clearly why the school is such a great place for children with a very wide range of needs to thrive and achieve so well.
We are particularly pleased that the report emphasises the excellent care, support and guidance provided for all pupils and how this leads to outstanding progress in terms of personal development and well-being. As a result the academic achievements made by all pupils is at least good and for many it is exceptionally good. In addition we are really pleased that our relationships with parents and all other agencies with which we work was deemed to be outstanding. This is so important to us as we know that it is only by working closely in partnership that we can ensure our provision is as good as it can be.
Alderman Knight is a very special place. There is a wonderful staff team who are very talented and wholly committed to providing the very best for all pupils. Relationships within the school are another major strength and the atmosphere within the school reflects this.
Since September 2006, 31 new children have joined the school and the number on roll is now 71 with many more children hoping to join in the next 12 months! This is absolutely fantastic and reflects the importance of Alderman Knight in helping meet the special educational needs of children across the county.
The next step for the school is to be awarded specialist status in Communication and Interaction and it is planned that this will be achieved by September 2009. This will be a really exciting development and will provide the school with a range of opportunities that will support the school’s aim to become a centre of excellence for supporting children with communication and interaction needs both within the school and the local community.
Should you wish to visit the school please contact the school office to arrange an appointment. We will be delighted to show you are school. We also have an open day planned for January 2008. Again please contact the school office for details.
